#AskPeshev 58: Make Time to Save Time

“Scaling an organization is impossible without the implementation of business process management (BPM) practices in-house.”

— Mario Peshev

You’ll never be able to “save time” until you “make time”. I get swamped more often than I’d like to admit (for continuous periods of time), but I mostly invest my time into:

  • Looking for talent I can delegate to

  • Documenting activities that others can follow

  • Building a long backlog of tasks so I don’t need to revisit over the coming weeks

  • Reading dashboards and make future planning

  • Refining and revamping processes for better efficiency and scalability

In other words, I design processes and delegate as much as I can - before I jump onto the next challenge. We took it a step further by building our SaaS BPM software and I wanted to share some thoughts about how we leverage it in different scenarios (and why processes shouldn’t be scary for small teams). In essence, there’s a lot we can all learn and incorporate from the enterprise world (and translate it to our startup, agency, consulting needs). With the right process planning, you’ll have everything ready to delegate to the next person in line (or hire an assistant able to take it from there).Mario

As WordPress enthusiasts, you know and we know that one of the things that make WordPress the most popular CMS is no doubt, its community! Giving back to the WordPress community is essentially a big part of what we do and we always strive to go a step further.

If your company hasn’t grown to a fully-fledged corporation yet, you’re probably terrified (if not disgusted) from all the enterprise lingo – workflows, procedures, contingency plans, risk management (to name a few). The best advice that I could give to remote workers: Be passionate about the company culture and the high-end goals of the business. If you are truly passionate, the loss of personal presence would not be a major problem for you or your team. read more…

In a small team wherein you are responsible for monitoring communication channels closely, stay alert for communication overhead and other issues. It’s rarely a single, isolated process, and it never ends with a single intervention.Communication clean up is an iterative venture just like gardening or maintaining an automobile.

The common practices we try to incorporate in order to reduce the gap are:1. Several Slack channels for offtopic and success storiesIcebreakers, funny gifs, anything else that people are free to share and have fun with2. Monday kick-off meeting onlineSyncing priorities and sharing some company data for everyone who wants to learn more about our clients or what other teams work on

Once we finalized the purchase of WP-CRM System, Jetpack acquired another CRM plugin, too. I couldn't be happier, because this will increase the qualification and improve the processes for more WordPress users (instead of impacting our sales).Competitors can and should be your friends - and here's how to accomplish it.
